KATIE KORDEL NAMED LONE FINALIST FOR LOVEJOY ISD SUPERINTENDENT
 

Allen, Texas – May 24, 2021 – The Lovejoy ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Katie Kordel as the lone finalist for the district’s superintendent position.

Ms. Kordel has served as the Chief Innovation and Strategic Initiatives Officer for Allen ISD the past two years. In Allen, Kordel designed and facilitated the SOAR 2030 strategic vision initiative. She oversaw Technology, Assessment and Accountability, Information Services, Education Foundation, Partnerships, Community Engagement, and Coordinated School Health.

The state requires a 21-day waiting period after which trustees are expected to offer Ms. Katie Kordel a contract for employment.

I am eager to partner with students, staff, and families to build upon this excellence and live the Lovejoy ISD mission.” said Kordel in a statement issued after being named the lone finalist.

Ms. Kordel has worked in education since beginning her career in Allen ISD as a high school biology teacher. She spent 16 years leading in various roles for Frisco ISD including Middle School Principal, Director of Secondary Instruction, Chief Academic Officer, and Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. During her time in Frisco ISD, Ms. Kordel expanded student opportunities by creating unique partnerships with the Dallas Cowboys, Baylor Scott & White, University of North Texas, and FC Dallas. She currently serves on the executive board of the Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Her vast experiences in education will make an immediate impact in Lovejoy ISD as we continue to strive for excellence in all areas.

The board spent 4 days interviewing candidates over the course of two rounds of interviews after receiving 53 applicants for the superintendent position.
